The Amsterdam-born but Suriname-raised stand-up comedian / cabaret performer Jörgen Raymann is known for various theater programs, as a presenter for the NPS series Comedy Factory and the late-night program Raymann Is Laat. A DVD of the theater program Slaaf Of Niet Addicted has been released in the Oude Luxor Theater in Rotterdam. The natural talent Raymann does not need much to enthrall an evening:
a drummer, a keyboard player and a simple set consisting of two grating constructions that represent the gateway to Fortress Europe. The year is 2020 and Fortress Europe has become an impregnable fortress. Still, Raymann tries to get in there. Because he has ancestors from various races and cultures, he splits into four personalities (wintis), each with its own addiction: an oversexed Dutch farmer, a gambling Hindustani, an food addicted dark man and a drink addicted Indian. The wanderings of these wintis through Morocco, Spain, Egypt and Russia provide funny scenes. But Raymann's message is serious: he warns against cultural segregation, demonization and compartmentalization within Europe. (SvdP)more
