Sanne Wallis de Vries is best known for playing versatile characters in the television program Kopspijkers. However, in her third theater program Stuk she does not play characters, but an enlarged version of herself, an independent woman of 32. In the first part she reveals her apparently capricious associative thoughts about the zeitgeist (past-present-future), retro-thinking, etc. an annoying
… Simone, a strap-on penis and a failed vacation in Mexico. The second part of Stuk is mainly sung. Wallis de Vries sings own songs but also arrangements of songs by Björk, Laurie Anderson and Harry Nilsson. She will be accompanied by (contra) bassist Peter Sambros and keyboardist Dionys Breukers. With the program Stuk De Vries does not seem to make the audience laugh so much as to make them think. The DVD Stuk was recorded in December 2003 in the Stadsschouwburg Groningen. Dressed in sexy outfits, De Vries performs with flair and a great sense of drama. Unfortunately, the DVD does not contain any extras worth mentioning. (SvdP)more
