The comedian Javier Guzman was born in Las Palmas. He emigrated to the Netherlands at the age of seven with his Spanish father and Dutch mother. Guzman's talent was already revealed during his studies at the Amsterdam Kleinkunstacademie. In 2002, the student won both the jury and the audience award at the Leids Cabaret Festival and performed as a stand-up comedian for a while. After a performance
… at the Comedy Cafe in London, he won an Open Mice Award to everyone's surprise. Guzman also shows his face on television. He played the leading role in Paul Ruven's comic integration program 100% Ab and gave a Sinterklaas conference for three consecutive years. In January 2003 his first theater program Bot premiered, a succession of autobiographical sketches with often surprising twists. The recording for the DVD was made in May 2004 in the Tilburgse Schouwburg. Guzman turns out to be a fascinating stage personality with witty observations, a strong talent for improvisation and a natural sense of timing. Topics include: disadvantages of technological progress, integration, faith and disbelief and a hilarious kidney stone study. With Botleg and a Making Of as extras. (SvdP)more
