Comedian Youp van 't Hek is getting older: in the past, short-skirted sexy girls were waiting for him after a performance, now they have become pleated skirts and compression stockings. The comedian with the big mouth and bold statements in his theater program Beautiful Paprika's especially pokes fun at his peers, the fifties with their midlife crisis who moan for hours about their hip and prostate.
Fortunately, Youp doesn't keep itself out of harm's way. The older he gets, the milder, he doesn't understand life that way anymore. Social involvement remains, as does kicking against consumer society. He examines current developments in Dutch society with suspicion, with religion and (non-) beliefs as important themes and modernisms such as designer clothes, piercings, tattoos and silicone breasts. The DVD offers many extras, such as reports of the preparations for the music and the set, the unveiling of a bust of Youp in theater Carré, a performance during Kopspijkers and a presentation of Youp's children's book Pim & Pietje.
