The singer / composer / lyricist Herman van Veen was awarded the Radio 2 Zendtijdprijs 2002 on March 17, 2002. This prize is awarded annually by Radio 2 and Conamus to a performing artist of lasting significance for Dutch radio. Van Veen has been on stages at home and abroad for more than thirty-five years and has more than 120 albums to his name. Besides music and lyrics for his songs, he writes
… film and dance music, poems, stories and screenplays, and directs and acts in films and television series. In addition, he supports numerous projects to improve the lives of children around the world. Shortly after the presentation of the Zendtijdprijs, the album Andere Namen was released, along with the singles Andere Namen and In Mijn Gedachten.
