In the sixties, when Dutch pop music was still in its infancy, Boudewijn de Groot was already a great figure. With the lyrics of Lennaert Nijgh as a guideline, he sang one classic after another into the national charts. For Lage Landen, Boudewijn adapted two texts by Nijgh, who died in 2002, which turned up in his legacy. The magic between Nijgh and De Groot also remains posthumously, for example
… in Het Jagen Voorbij, a text that is beautiful in its simplicity, set to music at least as beautifully. In his own texts, de Groot shows himself to be a serious person who struggles with death and faith. As elaborate as his poetry is occasionally, the music sounds so fresh and spontaneous. Just like , with whom he was already compared in the sixties, Boudewijn de Groot remains a relevant artist even in the latter days of his career, who still manages to express the feelings of his generation in a striking way.
