Her sultry voice comes from smoking, but she got her talent for show business from her mother. Laura Fygi is a daughter of an Egyptian belly dancer and a Dutch director (from Philips). During her childhood in South America she grew up with the Dutch, French and Spanish language. When her father died unexpectedly, Fygi was eight years old. The family then moved permanently to the Netherlands. Fygi
… started her showbiz career as the singer of the racy women's trio Centerfold. Later she developed into an internationally renowned singer of intimate soft jazz. Fygi is especially praised in Asia. With her eleventh album Rendez-Vous, a long-awaited wish comes true: songs from the Great American Songbook sung in her native language, French and arranged in Hot Club de France style. Her own trusted band members are supplemented by guest musicians Stochelo Rosenberg (guitar), David Kweksilber (clarinet), Gert Wantenaar (accordion), Tim Kliphuis (violin) and Bert Boeren (trombone). Finally, Fygi sings the duet Dansez Maintenant (Moonlight Serenade) with the Dutch-French singer Dave. (SvdP)more
