Michel Fugain founded Le Big Bazar in 1972, a troupe of 35 musicians, dancers and comedians. Fugain was very successful with this circus incarnate. In the Netherlands he is best known for the songs Ring Et Ding and Une Belle Histoire (later covered by Gerard Cox, Paul de Leeuw and Alderliefste, among others). Both songs are on this CD. Strangely enough, the four studio albums of Le Big Bazar had
… never been released on CD before. This triple stack (partly) provides for that omission. It is a compilation with almost all the songs that Fugain released together with Le Big Bazar in the short but successful period (between 1972 and 1976). It has that typical French pop sound of the seventies where the songs often start small and acoustically but have baroque, orchestrated finals. Lyrics or an explanation of the songs are unfortunately missing. However, the booklet is full of color pictures of the colorful company. This makes it a beautiful image of the free-spirited seventies. (PdK)more
