From time to time there is another adolescent band that appears in some TV program and is hyped because they revive music from a bygone era. In England they have Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, who make rockabilly. Their second album has been given the massive title Smoking In Heaven. The cover features Lewis Durham and his sisters Kitty and Daisy dressed up as Amy Winehouse smoking, drinking and eating
… cookies. The adolescent splashes off and you put on the record with distrust. As soon as the opening track Tomorrow starts you think that The Dap Kings are playing and the suspicion is gone, especially brother Lewis has a voice that can thrive in the genre. It is an entertaining record by a band that still seems a bit immature. It is regrettable that this kind of music is only appreciated when it is played by teenagers with rich parents where an artist like Nick Curran remains in the background. (SI)more
