With a stuttering blues riff on his Les Paul, Justin Adams immediately packs a punch in the opening song Nightwalk. Make no mistake about it: this album is direct, raw and spontaneous. No wonder when you consider that the seven songs were recorded live-in-the-studio without overdubs in just two days. Especially in that spectacular opener, Adams' elementary guitar riff blends perfectly with Camara's
… melancholy playing on the ritti (a one-string violin). Unfortunately, the real fireworks are limited to the opening track and the other six songs sound a lot more reflective and, in all fairness, a lot more boring. Justin Adams should have come to the fore more, because to the untrained ear the wailing sound of Camara's one-string violin soon becomes monotonous. (PdK)more
