There are no less than seven years between Luzazul's debut album and this successor. Why it took so long is not entirely clear. One reason could be the many performances. Among others in Paradiso, but also at festivals such as Dunya and Oerol and as support act for Caesaria Evora. These diverse locations illustrate the versatility of the band. The group was founded by Magda Mendes, a Portuguese
… singer who studied at the Rotterdam Conservatory. Luzazul's musical sources of inspiration come from all over the world: Brazilian pop music, the Cape Verde morna, flamenco and a pinch of fado and jazz. The album title is inspired by the painter's blank canvas, ready to be painted. The group sees it as a metaphor for life. Luzazul paints with bright colors and is therefore a welcome addition to the Dutch music world. (PdK)more
