Power to the women! Three beautiful and powerful women are proud of the album cover. American-Mexican singer Lila Downs, Spanish flamenco singer Niña Pastori and Argentinian folk singer Soledad Pastorutti were looking forward to this ambitious collaborative project, an idea of record company Sony Latin. First they chose songs from each other's repertoire, learned them and made unique arrangements
… to them. They then met in Mexico City to record the twelve songs in the studio in twenty to twenty-five days. On the album Raíz - roots - you can hear how well the female voices fit together: all three full and powerful, with the typical flamenco singing in particular giving a special accent to Latin American songs.
