The French label has been folk and pop music from all over the world since 2015. The first (re) release of the record company is Chinese Folk Songs by Lily Chao. This singer from Taiwan originally released the record in 1968. A masterpiece, according to the Akuphone press release. The label is of course not objective, but it is certainly not boastful. … western is irresistible. The singer performs songs from various provinces of China that are nevertheless very accessible to western ears. This has everything to do with the electric guitars, drums and organs that conquered the world in the late 1960s. Only here and there does a scale appear that sounds a bit strange. Chao's high-pitched and inspired singing is very captivating. Even without knowing her tragic life story, you hear that this lady has suffered. Even if she sings about flowers in bloom, you suspect there is more to it. Only the best singers can do that, and Lily Chao was one of them. (JE)more
