The Spanish word 'farsa' - originally 'farce' or 'farce' - has in the course of time acquired the negative meaning of 'pretext'. But is pretence really that negative? Not in the arts, concluded the Catalan singer Silvia Pérez Cruz. The pretence is even, to a greater or lesser extent, the common denominator of artistic disciplines such as music, dance, film, theatre and poetry. This fact motivated
… her to investigate how her music relates to the other artistic disciplines. For example, Farsa includes songs that Pérez Cruz wrote for collaborations with a flamenco dancer, as contributions to (animation) films and as part of theatre projects. Full of conviction, she seeks adventure from a folklore basis in each piece. The widely divergent arrangements create beautiful contrasts and with her voice she searches for extremes. But above all, everything sounds sincere and personal. That can be called ironic for a record with such a title. (JV)more
