Don't be alarmed when you see the name Roberto Carlos. This is not the Brazilian soccer player of Real Madrid who wants to make a picture if necessary. This Roberto Carlos is a Brazilian singer who was born in 1941 and who has been in the business for over forty years. In his early years he was inspired by Little Richard, Elvis Presley and The Beatles. This earned him the nickname 'Rock & Roll
… Vader' in Brazil. After that he opted for a somewhat calmer and more traditional repertoire, which brought him closer to João Gilberto. Together with his musical partner Erasme Carlos, he wrote a series of bossa nova classics that are known to every Brazilian today. He has now sold more than seventy million albums and is in possession of a Grammy Award for best 'Latin' artist. This Roberto Carlos is therefore a phenomenon, which could receive more attention in Europe. A great opportunity is the album that he recorded live in 2001 in Rio De Janeiro for MTV Unplugged. On this album he performs some of his very best songs such as Além Do Horizonte, Detalhes and O Calhambeque. Thanks to Acústico MTV we can now also enjoy one of the greatest artists in the world in the Netherlands. (MvP)more
