The multicultural band Ozomatli (vocals, guitars, wind instruments, percussion) from Los Angeles blends salsa, hip-hop, rock, jazz, funk, Tejano and reggae seemingly effortlessly into a distinctive sound. Is there anything else possible? Yes, on the third album Street Signs Ozomatli also adds influences from Arabic music. Ozomatli's hard core consists of Raul 'El Bully' Pacheco, Ulises Bella, Jiro
… Yamaguchi, Cut Chemist, Wil-Dog Abers, Mairo Calire, Rene 'Spinobi' Dominguez, Justin 'Niño' Porée, Asdrubal Sierra and Jabu. Guest musicians can also be heard on Street Signs such as the Prague Orchestra (on various tracks), jazz pianist Eddie Palmieri on Nadie Te Tira and Doña Isabelle and David Hidalgo from Los Lobos on Santiago. The spicy, groovy music on the album clearly shows why Ozomatli can be counted among the best party bands of our time. (SvdP)more
