In 1981 our living rooms were surprised with the series De Fabriek (The Factory), the Dutch answer to the successful American TV series Dallas. The series was about a rich Dutch family that, you guessed it, ran a factory. Of course, these people also had some high caliber soap opera experiences. Composer Ruud Bos was responsible for the soundtrack. The bombastic opening number Sugar was deeply
… engraved in the memory of the herd of loyal viewers after a few episodes. Bos mainly used a typical late 70s jazz funk sound. It's easy to hear that he studied the soundtracks of Quincy Jones extensively for both the big and small screen. He learned a lot from this undisputed master of the musical tension curve. This resulted in always having the right musical mood under the scenes of suspense, momentum, romance, joy and sorrow, doubt and fortitude, and of course win and lose. (AD)more
