De Vliegende Panters is a well-known cabaret trio consisting of Rutger de Bekker, Diederik Ebbinge and Remko Vrijdag. In addition to theater programs, they were also seen on television in the successful television series Daar Vliegende Panters (2001). In 2005 they made a second television series Daar Vliegende Panters, with sketches and a lot of music. The album Daar Vliegende Panters II is actually
… a soundtrack, but can also be heard as an independent pop album. Current issues are packaged in very strong funny songs, predominantly in hip-hop style. Open your ears for the fast raps, for example gangsta rap songs such as Bling Bling and Luister Schatje or hip hop songs such as Bloemenbuurt and Kriebel (girls). Recognizable are the stereotypical image of Dutch people who holiday at the Spanish Costas in Houdios, the fear of Muslims in the traditional Dutch fanfare song We Worden Threatened and the disillusionment of young fathers in the Borsato-like song Roze Wolk. The Victims' sung from a 'Moroccan' perspective offers food for thought. Put that next to corny pieces like Lekker Reppe and Stukjes Poep and you see: something for everyone. (SvdP)more
