In the early 1970s, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice created the controversial rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar, a daring interpretation of the last seven days in the life of Jesus Christ. Jesus was portrayed as a person of flesh and blood, with doubts and desires. Judas resists the hype and fanaticism surrounding Jesus by all those hippie-like followers. His 'solution' has
… dramatic consequences. Joop van den Endes production Jesus Christ Superstar is a traveling rock musical directed by Paul Eenens and translated into Dutch by Daniel Cohen. This JSC was created from the belief that one person can make a difference. This live album with highlights was recorded during the premiere in 2005. Jesus is played by the Flemish actor Dieter Troubleyn, known from Spangen and Rozengeur En Wodka Lime, among others. Martin van der Starre, lead singer of the band jeWelste from The Hague, is an impressive Judas. And Casey Francisco moves as Mary Magdalene. Idols winner Jamai Loman plays apostle Simon. (SvdP)more
