The Dutch composer Ruud Bos has an impressive oeuvre. Between roughly 1960 and 2000 he wrote well-known songs for television, theater and film. The well-known songs from De Fabeltjeskrant, the catchy tunes in the Efteling and the tune of Zeg 'ns AAA; it's all his. Millions of people have enjoyed Bos's work year after year, without perhaps even realizing it. This double CD contains (film) soundtracks
… from the years 1967 to 1973. A time when pop and jazz increasingly appeared in films instead of large-scale music performed by a stately symphony orchestra. Bos was a real jazz lover at the time and this makes his work easy to listen to without the accompanying images. It is applied art that is still effective even without its proper purpose - to support the work of the actors and director. Wonderfully swinging and authentic jazz that is easy on the ear. The accompanying CD booklet offers many nice photos and English liner notes that are clearly translated from Dutch. The latter perhaps to increase Bos's international reputation. It would be only right. (JE)more
