Matt Schofield is a busy owner with no less than eight albums in ten years. The British guitar virtuoso and in-demand producer regularly changes record labels and Far As I Can See is the first album for his new 'employer' Provogue. In terms of style, Schofield is fairly steadfast and so there are few spectacular changes to be discovered on the eleven track album. That's not a bad sign, because
… despite its high production rate, it almost always delivers a slick production. Also on Far As I Can See the blues rocker shows on songs like From Far Away, Oakville Shuffle and the funky Yellow Moon that he can rightly be called in the same breath as guitarists like Robben Ford, Walter Trout and Jan Akkerman. Not only musically, but also as a lyricist he shows that he understands his profession. The convincing proof are the beautifully written blues tracks Clean Break and the sublime final piece Red Dragon. (BvdV)more
