After his excellent 'groovy' CD Groove elation! for the Blue Note label, guitarist John Scofield switched to rival jazz label Verve. He played on Groove elation! still electric guitar, on Quiet he can be heard on the acoustic version. It has become a special CD, partly due to the other jazz musicians who contributed to this CD. You can hear: Wayne Shorte (tenor sax), Steve Swallow (bass), Bill
… Stewart (drums), Duduka Da Fonseca (drums), Randy Brecker (trumpet) and Howard Johnson (tuba, baritone sax). Roger Rosenberg's bass clarinet also sounds very nice in a number of songs. Scofield wrote eight of the nine compositions himself; the closing Away was written by Swallow. The jazz on this Scofield CD has sublime melody lines, is sophisticated and full of atmosphere.more
