The popular fusion formation Spyro Gyra recorded the album Road Scholars live during performances in America from March to October 1997. The formation is led by saxophonist Jay Beckenstein and further consists of keyboardist Tom Schuman, guitarist Julio Fernandez, drummer / percussionist Joel Rosenblatt and bassist Scott Ambush. The CD opens with Heart Of The Night, followed by Breakfast At Igor's.
Of course their great success and most famous song Morning Dance could not be missed on this live CD. The more than ten minutes long Shaker Song, with striking playing by Schuman on keyboards, is very worthwhile. Among the eleven live songs that ended up on this album are The Unwritten Letter, Ariana and De La Luz. (JW)more
