The Rippingtons' leader, guitarist Russ Freeman, found the inspiration for this album in the history of Taos, a small town in New Mexico. This town played a major role in what is called 'The Goldrush' in 1849. Freeman's guitar playing plays a leading role on this ten track album. The compositions sound responsible but smooth and seem ideal for the car radio in the evening. With a few exceptions it
… has little to do with jazz (Spirits In The Canyon, Temple Of The Sun, Snakedance). Guest musicians are Paul Taylor (saxophone), Kim Stone (bass), Dave Kochanski (piano) and Robert Tree Cody who, with his playing on a hand-carved flute, gives the music of The Rippingtons an almost New Age-like atmosphere.
