Bass player Christian McBride, who has shot up like a rocket, has already delivered a very strong CD with "Sci-fi". Seven own songs, four carefully selected covers and five guest players make for a captivating record. Sci-fi has become an 'acoustic fusion' album, which originated after writing the song "Science Fiction" and around which he then grouped the other songs, making it a clear concept CD.
The guests can be there: Herbie Hancock plays the piano in two songs, Diana Reeves sings in the song "Lullaby for a Ladybug", Toots Thielemans plays harmonica in the song "I Guess I'll Have To Forget", James Carter can be heard on bass clarinet in two songs and David Gilmore plays guitar in four songs.
