Two Tenor Case was founded in 2000 when pianist Cees Slinger was asked to perform in a restaurant in Kijkduin. His own quintet Buddies In Soul was not available, after which tenor saxophonist Simon Rigter suggested bringing in his colleague Sjoerd Dijkhuizen and thus creating a band with two tenors. … recordings that were made in the jazz club Pannonica in The Hague, Slinger invited his old friend, the then seventy-year-old trombonist Slide Hampton. Despite his advanced age, Hampton is still a striking soloist with a full sound. Especially on JJ Johnson's ballad Lament, Hampton shines and his sensitive trombone playing comes out best.
