Besides Candy Dulfer and Tineke Postma, the Netherlands has another fantastic saxophonist, Susanne Alt. At least, Alt is of German origin but now lives in Amsterdam. Her playing is reminiscent of that of the great Dutch viola player Benjamin Herman. That this comparison is not unfounded, is clear from Alt's second CD Delight. The opener Now Forever is a pleasant swinging boogaloo a la New Cool Collective. Every now and then we slow down but overall Delight is a nice soul jazz CD, not least thanks to the guest appearances of New Cool Collective guitarist Anton Goudsmit. (HB)more
