Jan van Duikeren is best known as Candy Dulfer's trumpet player. He also plays in The Jazzinvaders, Gare Du Nord, New Cool Collective Big Band and The Special Request Horns, one of the Netherlands' most requested wind sections. In that capacity he has built up a loyal fan base, especially in Japan. So loyal that his biggest fans in the land of the rising sun were willing to invest in Van Duikeren's
… debut CD. He wanted to make a jazz record himself that would represent his own vision of jazz. In this case a mix between bebop, gospel, funk, soul, joy, good food and a free spirit. In doing so he could count on the cooperation of the crème de la crème of the Dutch musician world. Fingerprint goes deeper than most CDs on which Van Duikeren can be heard. All of the above ingredients are equally distributed. There is also a great love for the jazz funk that The Crusaders made in the seventies. Martijn Vink's drumming in particular is very reminiscent of that of Stix Hooper. With Fingerprint van Duikeren shows that he has everything to become a leading band leader. (AD)more
