At the age of nine, Teus Nobel made frantic attempts to get sound out of his father's trombone. Since this was a bit too much for the little boy's lung capacity, his family only gave him a trumpet. Initially he followed a classical education at the Rotterdam conservatory, but soon switched to the jazz department where trumpet player Jarmo Hogendijk took him under his wing. He currently plays regularly
… in the Kyteman Orchestra, the Konrad Kosseleck Bigband and Wicked Jazz Sounds. After a lot of session work it is now time for his debut Flow, a very varied jazz funk album that Nobel shows as a very powerful wind player. Accompanied by a brutally grooving band in which the sturdy percussion of Salle de Jonge stands out in particular, Nobel knows how to emphasize his sense of variation not only throughout his repertoire, but also in the individual pieces themselves. Using effect equipment in combination with various playing techniques, he proves that he has everything for a glorious career. (AD)more
