Music in the spirit of great pioneers such as and , but performed by young musicians who do not shy away from influences from rock, noise and other modern free styles. The transatlantic quartet Starlite Motel is a shimmering exponent of this. Saxophonist , bassist and drummer come from
… the Scandinavian avant-garde world and start sparring with the American organist Jamie Saft ( , at Awosting Falls.). This results in a hectic amount of free jazz and rock. Especially in the case of Saft you can hardly speak of 'playing' anymore. The organist seems to literally attack his instrument and let it groan, fits and starts. An attack on the ears and brains that never becomes impenetrable because Starlite Motel always keeps a groove going. A brave band on a brave label. (MR)more
