On their fourth album Mirabel, Kapok seems to have found a completely unique sound. Music or anti-music that is not always easy to digest. This Dutch trio, with the unusual line-up of horn, electric guitar and drums, was founded in 2011 in the Utrecht music stronghold Kytopia. … Mirabel-aux-Baronnies in the south of France. Here ample scope was given to the experiment, with important roles for the synthesizer and electronic effects. The result is an hour long suite of soundscapes, runaway noise and hectic jazz rock. The studio became their playground. With both crooked and inventive improvisations, this trio shows that there is only one Kapok. (MR)more
