The genesis of this ultra-hip band is by no means everyday. Dan Leavers (keyboards) and Max Hallett (drummer) formed the duo Soccer96, which they say played psychedelic electro. During performances they regularly saw a dark figure in the audience, who at one point just walked onto the stage with his sax. … as ) caused an 'explosive shock wave of energy'. Anyone who has ever seen the trio - meanwhile renamed The Comet Is Coming - in action, will wholeheartedly endorse those words. Like with the late have started jamming during a joint mushroom trip. And where such a psych-jazz session can degenerate live into a war of attrition, The Comet Is Coming provides plenty of variety on this crazy second album. The beautifully titled Trust In The Lifeforce Of The Deep Mystery calmly builds up the tension, Blood Of The Past features a vocal contribution from rap star and we even hear a fine, unadulterated jazz song at the very end.
