… TV broadcast. Monk played with his regular quartet, with saxophonist Charlie Rouse, bassist Larry Gales and drummer Ben Riley. The program only included own compositions, such as Well You Needn't, Straight No Chaser and Rhythm-A-Ning. In reasonable (black and white) images and mono sound, the founder of bebop (with black goatee beard and fur hat) can be seen at work with his characteristic angular lines and stubbornly placed chords.
