Dwight Yoakam is a big name in country loving America. However, with A Long Way Home he does not live up to his reputation. Songs like The Curse, Yet To Succeed, These Arms and especially Traveler's Lantern with that horrible banjo sound like country music did in the 40s and 50s. Favorable exceptions are the more up-tempo songs on the album like Things Change, I Wouldn't Put It Past Me and the ballad
