Rick Danko became known in the sixties and seventies as a bass player and one of the singers of The Band. After a life of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, he passed away in 1999 at the age of 56. Just before his death, he had recorded the solo album Times Like These together with former colleagues such as Joe Walsh (ex-The Eagles), Garth Hudson and Levon Helm (both The Band).
