Dolly Parton is far from tired of it, as she proves with Run, Rose, Run. Her 48th (!) album opens with the energetic number Run, in which the string instruments work overtime. At 76, the artist has nothing more to prove, as evidenced by the catchy mix of country and bluegrass and everyday themes that a large audience will be able to recognize. The warmth that Parton radiates as a person is also
… reflected in her music. Run, Rose, Run is being released along with a book of the same name, with the songs serving to support the story. However, the album is also recommended on its own, even if the real surprises remain out. (JvQ)more
