Shaggy, born in Jamaica, is known in the Netherlands from his hits Oh Carolina (1993) and Boombastic (1995). On his fourth album Hot Shot, he combines his ragga, which he himself calls 'dog-a-muffin', with influences from contemporary pop and world music. He flirts with modern R&B in Leave It To Me, with teenage pop in Hope, we hear Eastern influences in Hey Love and he goes on the Latin tour
