The Backstreet Boys had been in the business of becoming famous for a few years when they were offered a record deal in 1994. Their debut single We've Got It Going On was released at the end of 1995, followed by their self-titled first album. Everyone knows by now that this is a very successful act. What is striking is that the five have now been able to hold out for a very long time for a 'boy
… band'. And judging by the optimistic addition of "chapter one" to this compilation album, we are not getting rid of them yet. As the title shows, this is a greatest hits compilation. Many of the well-known songs already sound quite dated (Everybody, I'll Never Break Your Heart, Get Down). However, among these little things there are also great songs like I Want It That Way and Quit Playing Games With My Heart. The last (and fifteenth) track on the CD is the new single Drowning. Unfortunately for the fans, this mediocre song is the only new track on the album. But love makes blind and the Backstreet Boys are still very much loved and so this BSB CD will be high in the album lists again in no time. (MvP)more
