I knew Aphex Twin, aka producer / composer Richard D. James (1971) from the singles and the accompanying crazy video clips Come To Daddy (1997) and Windowlicker (1999) in which all heads have been replaced by James' own face that looks terrifyingly terrifying . What do you expect from the music on a new album? In any case not the experiment that Drukqs is subject to, without the almost simplistic
… but oh so infectious danceability of the aforementioned songs. No fewer than two CDs full, Aphex Twin treats the listener to drum & bass, ambient techno and electro, and does not make it easy for his audience. Drukqs is a busy maze of sounds, sound collages, rhythms and songs that take you through a varied musical landscape. The album doesn't really hold me. Drukqs is just too experimental and too restless for that. (BP)more
