The Zutons presents itself to the world in a fifties science fiction sleeve. Not aliens, but a young five-piece band from Liverpool, who performed with Who Killed The Zutons? (2004) has delivered the first CD. As label mates of the British sensation The Coral, a comparison with these British 'youngsters' is obvious. … styles in pop music are quoted with the greatest ease. The band members cite themselves as their main influences include Neil Young, Talkin Heads, Sly & The Family Stone, Hank Williams and soundtrack composer John Barry. Nevertheless, The Zutons have succeeded in creating their own sound (together with producer Ian Broudie of The Lightning Seeds), the most striking feature of which is the input of saxophonist Abi Harding, which gives the cheerful, super catchy up-tempo songs such as Remember Me an extra funky edge.
