The English group The Wedding Present was founded in 1986 by singer David Gedge. Not least thanks to the support of radio DJ John Peel, The Wedding Present became one of Britain's most popular alternative rock groups. The group lasted until 1997 when Gedge, who had remained the only permanent member in the years, moved on with the group Cinerama, along with his girlfriend Sally Murrell. Cinerama
… was supposed to sound like a really different group, but it started to look more and more like The Wedding Present. So much so, that when Cinerama entered the studio in 2004 for a new CD, one of The Wedding Present was released. Take Fountain (2005) is the first new material from The Wedding Present since 1997, but the group is still able to keep up. With Gedge's broken relationship as the main source of inspiration, Take Fountain is full of songs about love, lust, heartbreak and sorrow. In addition to the guitars, there is room for other instruments such as a cello, mellotron, vibraphone or a French horn. Take Fountain is a beautiful return from The Wedding Present, and of course dedicated to John Peel, who passed away in 2004. (IV)more
