The Dropkick Murphys are from Boston but have Irish ancestors. Musically this manifests itself in American punk mixed with Irish folk influences, bagpipe and violin use. The music can be compared to that of Flogging Molly. Dropkick Murphys has been regarded for years as the ideal festival band that can throw a party anywhere, which the band proved in the Netherlands at Pinkpop and Lowlands 2002,
… among others. This fifth album in almost ten years doesn't bring anything new under the sun. The fourteen sing-alongs are concluded with the bonus track Tessie. This is said to be the old battle song of the Boston Red Sox, the baseball club that won the World Series in 2004 for the first time in many years. The Murphys have been kind enough to make their own version of it, because a little bit of nationalism is no stranger to them. (JdD)more
