Shortly after the release of Shivers, Armin van Buuren traveled to Los Angeles to contribute to the soundtrack of the popular television series 24. The trance of which we know van Buuren lends itself perfectly to spectacular chases and explosive shootouts. He proves with Shivers that he also knows what to do with more worn songs. The usual Teutonic drone, such as Serenity, the theme of Sensation
… White that he composed together with Jan Vayne, is alternated with pop songs with a light breakbeat as accompaniment and the usual trance effects as an interpretation. This sometimes leads to very gooey results such as Empty State, with vocals from Mic Burns. Those who expect trance for large sports halls should ignore this CD. If you are curious about the forms of fusion this genre can evolve into, Shivers is a good example. (AD)more
