At the beginning of 2006, the Volendam group BZN announced that it would throw in the towel. With 54 charts in forty years, the band is the most successful in Dutch pop history. We can consider this CD as the ultimate BZN document. From the first rock hits Sweet Silver Annie and Rolling Around The Bend to the breakthrough hit Mon Amour and the countless hit singles (including Pearlydumm, Yeppa,
… Rockin 'The Trolls, The Banjo Man) that followed. We hear how Jan Keizer is promoted from drummer to singer and how singer Annie Schilder makes her entrance, only to be replaced by Carola Smit after a while. The success remained, although after the departure of the brothers Thomas and Cees Tol in 1988 the stream of hits slowly dried up. With the separation of BZN an era in Dutch pop music has come to an end. (MS)more
