In the years after the release of the debut album A Jagged Era (1998), the American R&B group Jagged Edge has always remained together in unchanged form, and that is quite special. The formula for their albums has not changed either: Jagged Edge sounds little different on this self-titled album than before. The combination of sultry ballads and more dance floor-oriented tracks is well known,
… just like the polyphonic vocals. It's a formula that has already been successful, so why should they do otherwise? Twin brothers Brian and Brandon Casey wrote and produced most of the songs and got help here and there from their former label boss and star producer Jermaine Dupri. Song titles like Sexy American Girls and Ass Hypnotic leave little to guess what most of the songs are about. Of course, some contributions from rappers are also included, and this time John Legend is also participating, in a typical 'John Legend-song'. Fans will also be pleased with album five. (IV)more
