In 2002 the Swedish duo Oscar Simonsson and Magnus Zingmark sold more than 160,000 copies of their CD Waltz For Koop under the name Koop. Using a well-equipped studio equipped with the latest electronic production technology, they revived the jazz of the sixties in a completely natural way. For Koop Islands they went further back in time, to the 1930s to be precise, and moved in a virtual way to
… sunnier places. The latter in particular ensures that this is an exceptionally sunny CD. The warm sound of the marimba, the rushing sound of waves in the surf and a single elegant flute are reminiscent of paradise places. With vocal influences from the 1930s, Koop seems to be attempting to participate in the next Eurovision Song Contest. Yelp at the top, but fortunately the balance is just heading in the right direction. (AD)more
