Mungolian Jet Set was founded by the musicians Paul 'Strangefruit' Nyhus, Knut Saevik and Reidar Skar, all well-known from the richly flourishing Norwegian now jazz scene. Their debut Beauty Came To Us In Stone was produced by Bugge Wesseltoft, and he commissioned them to reflect on Miles Davis' electric era of the late 1960s / early 1970s. As far as the guidance is concerned, they have certainly
… succeeded. Sweltering mystical grooves with strongly alienating elements are an excellent representation of what Davis's grooves could have sounded like if he had had a time machine at his disposal forty years ago to unleash the joys of contemporary technology on his music. Unfortunately it stays with the guidance. None of the musicians steps forward to take on a solo role. This does not alter the fact that Beauty Came To Us In Stone is a very intriguing project.
