France is still a popular holiday destination for the Dutch, but the chanson has been around for a while now. In the 1970s people still often sang in French on Dutch radio. Now it is limited to a lost picture during the Tour de France report. The Amsterdam trio Alderliefste does not accept these facts without a (French) struggle. In 2004 the group already recorded a French-language album. The
… resulting Vivre / Laat Me (a duet with Ramses Shaffy and Liesbeth List) became a hit. The bilingual character is continued on this album. There is Une Belle Histoire, a duet in which Paul de Leeuw takes care of the Dutch lyrics. Ramses Shaffy and Liesbeth List participate again on Anne Et Jean. The French Battle comes out just before the summer holidays and that timing is perfect.
