In a canon of alternative rock, the Norwegian trio Motorpsycho deserves a place as the first group to dare to sound epic and drawn-out again in the nineties, with influences ranging from free jazz to seventies rock. An important inspiration for what would later develop as post rock. Where in their early days one album after another was released, Little Lucid Moments follows the double album Black
… Hole / Black Canvas from 2006. Fortunately, Motorpsycho shows that only four spun songs are still alive and kicking. Again they proudly rock, experiment and heroically improvise, with the production serving a fat band sound of guitar, bass and drums. Singer and guitarist Hans Magnus Ryan knows vocally, despite his thin voice, to fascinate and give coherence to the music. Motorpsycho has long since ceased to be original or surprising, but with their inspired and atmospheric alternative rock they still leave many an epigone behind. (MR)more
