For a girl group, Pussycat Dolls took a remarkably long time for the follow-up to the extremely successful debut album PCD. No less than three years have elapsed between that album from 2005 and its successor Doll Domination. Nothing has been left to chance. Obviously, much of the appeal lies in the erotic appearance of the ladies, but the music has also received audible attention, not least because
… of the prominent contributions of big names from the hip-hop and R&B world, such as Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly and Missy Elliott. That is perhaps the most remarkable thing about this guaranteed hit album: how much the worlds of pop and urban in the United States are intertwined. This in contrast to Europe, where these kinds of prefabricated girl and boy groups have a pronounced pop character. The guts and attitude that Pussycat Dolls display would spontaneously give the Spice Girls red cheeks. Not to mention K3. (MS)more
